Why Can’t I Open a FastChip Project or Bind a Project on the Korean, Japanese, or Chinese Versions of Windows?

There are sporadic failures when attempting to open a FastChip project and sometimes when attempting to Bind a project.  These failures generate error messages similar to the following.

  • Unable to read bound netlist file or bound netlist file doesn't exist. Resource information may be incomplete
  • Could not load file: <project_name>.n (<project_name>.n: Parse error at line x, column y.  Encountered: z)

Triscend believes that these problems are due to date format differences when using FastChip on Japanese, Korean, or Chinese platforms.

The solution is to alter the Windows parameter for Regional Settings in the Control Panel to be English (United States). Also, for Windows ME and Windows 2000, alter the Language parameter to be English.

1. The following example shows how to change your regional settings on Windows 2000.  Other Windows operating systems may be different.

Click Start à Settings à Control Panel à Regional Options.

Click "Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Regional Options".

2. Click the General tab.  Click the down arrow and select English (United States).  Click OK when finished.

FastChip Version: 2.4.0

This solution may or may not apply to other versions of the FastChip development system.
